Fresh Coconut Chutney for Your Favorite Snacks!
Everyone loves coconut because it's delicious and nutritious, contributing to good health. Today, I will share a jelly recipe made with coconut that all my friends enjoy so much, and I feel proud to share it!

Mixing bowl For combining the ingredients.
Blender or Food Processor To blend the coconut and other ingredients smoothly.
Strainer or Cheesecloth To strain the coconut milk if needed.
Saucepan For cooking the jelly mixture.
Whisk or Spoon To stir the mixture.
Measuring Cups and Spoons For accurate measurements of ingredients.
Mold or Serving Dish To set the jelly in the desired shape.
Refrigerator For chilling and setting the jelly.
- 1 coconut
- 2 tbsps roasted chana dal (roasted split chickpeas)
- Salt to taste
- 1 inch ginger, roughly chopped
- 2 green chillies, broken
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh coriander
- 1½ tbsps oil
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
- 1 tsp split skinless black gram
- 8-10 curry leaves
- 2-3 dried red chillies, stemmed
- Medu vada to serve (fried lentil fritters)
Firstly peel out the upper part of the cocnout and break it
shredded coconut with the help of a scraper.
Transfer the scraped coconut in blender jar. Add roasted chana dal, salt, ginger, green chillies, coriander, ½ cup water and grind to fine paste
Transfer in a bowl and set aside
For tempering, heat oil in a nonstick pan. Add mustard seeds.
Once they start to splutter, add asafoetida, black gram and sauté till the dal turns golden brown
Add curry leaves. Break the dried red chillies into small pieces and add to the tempering. Sauté for 30 seconds.
Add this tempering to the prepared chutney (jelly) and mix.
Medu vada to serve (fried lentil fritters)
Coconut Freshness: Use fresh coconut to get the best flavor.
Roasted Chana Dal: This ingredient adds nuttiness and thickness to the chutney. If you can't find roasted chana dal, you can dry roast raw chana dal until golden brown and let it cool before using.
Asafoetida: It increases the flavor if you like it.
