Hilsha fish with mustard sauce

Ingredients that need :

Hilsa fish: 4 pieces

Red mustard seeds: 1/2 tablespoon (soaked in water for half an hour)

Yellow mustard seeds: 1 tablespoon

Green chilies: 2-3 pieces

Turmeric powder: 1 teaspoon

Red chili powder: 1 teaspoon

Coriander powder: 1 teaspoon

Green chilies: 4 pieces (optional, add more if desired)

Mustard oil or soybean oil: 4 tablespoons (mustard oil preferred)

Onion paste: 3 tablespoons

How to prepare the dish :

At first preheating the stove to medium heat. Place a pan once it\’s hot, then pour mustard oil in the pan and let it heat up. Now add onion paste and wait until it\’s golden brown than add one by one the mustard paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and a pinch of salt. Stir until it\’s perfectly cooked.

 

Don\’t forget to grind the spices with a little water to prevent burning.

 

When the oil rises from the spices add the fish pieces one by one. This fish is soft so try to flip it slowly otherwise it will break.

 

After 2 minutes, turn the fish over and then add a cup of water and 4 green chilies. Keep the stove in medium heat for about five minutes.

 

Flip the fish a couple more times during this time. Once everything is cooked through and the broth is just right, take it off the stove.
