How to Make a Healthy Custard at Home: A Step-by-Step Guide

From my own experience, I will share a healthy custard recipe that I make in my own home. It is really delicious and healthy.


Difference Between Pudding and Custard

Custard means that it depends on egg yolk, sugar, and dairy. Pudding uses milk or cream and sugar. Custard is smoother because of the egg content. Some recipes use eggs in pudding, but they are not essential.


Why Is It Healthy?

Both are healthy, but to make them we have to use healthy ingredients like low-fat and plant-based milk and natural sweeteners.


Healthy Custard Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of bread
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon ghee
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon saffron
  • 2 tablespoons custard powder + 1/2 cup milk
  • Some nuts (dry fruits)
  • 10-15 pieces of raisins

  1. Fry the Bread:
    • Take a pan and pour the cooking oil into it. Add one teaspoon of ghee.
    • Stir well. When the oil and ghee heat up, add the small pieces of bread.
    • Keep the stove on mid-low heat and fry until light brown.

  1. Prepare the Milk Mixture:
    • Take two cups of milk and add 4-5 teaspoons of sugar, according to taste.
    • Add 1/4 teaspoon of saffron. Stir slowly and wait until it boils.
    • Mix 2 tablespoons of custard powder with 1/2 cup of milk and pour it into the boiling milk. Stir well.
    • If necessary, add a very small pinch of salt. Cook until the custard is lightly thickened.
  2. Combine and Garnish:
    • Remove the pan from the stove and pour the custard over the small pieces of fried bread.
    • Add dry fruits (2 tablespoons of nuts and some raisins).

Now, the custard is ready, and you will not believe how delicious it is!
